The thing you can’t help

For two days now I’ve been immersed in attending a virtual rare book fair. I’ve been listening to talks about paper making, fine bindings, and letter press printing. I’ve been looking at thousands of art books.

This is an affair that gives me a headache. Should I or should I not? The cards here, the Hanged Man, the Magician, and the Charioteer say the following: ‘You should. Go for it. Keep going.’

My heart sings. I noticed that the tune of the song is not around these lyrics, ‘where has your dollar gone?’ but around this sentiment, ‘wait until you get your hands on the thing. It may be that ‘the thing’ is 1000 dollars plus, Lord have mercy on my soul, or my bank account, but the thing is that there’s the thing called art, the highest craft, and the years of thinking that it takes a book maker artist to arrive at ‘the thing.’

I can’t recommend getting obsessed about rare books, but I will always recommend going for the thing that makes the heart sing.

The special ones

Not quite the thing, but the special editions at EyeCorner Press are definitely a thing – and not all are sold out yet.

In the silk series, there’s only one Tarot for Romeo and Juliet left, and one Andromalius. Grab them.
